Hey y’all! I’m currently all up in my feels between watching Fringe and applying for jobs, so I’ve got some calming wax melting and I’m bundled up in my favorite hoodie waiting for the boyfriend to get dinner going. I put out au gratin taters, veggies, and thawed pork chops. Let’s see how much of the puzzle he can put together, haha! In all seriousness, he’s an absolutely fantastic cook, and spoils me with delicious dinners when we have the time. I’m one lucky gal, that’s for sure.
While things outside of my lacquered-life are a bit messy, I know that there’s plenty of polish to help make things better, including the wonderful folks that make it. Lindsay, from Night Owl Lacquer is totally one of them. She sent me an awesome birthday package this week with a card that totally made me tear up. I’m beyond blessed to have her in my life, and I don’t know how I made it 25 years without her friendship.
Aside from the mushy stuff you just read, I’ve got her BEAUTIFUL contribution to the August Polish Pickup: Fierce & Feisty! This one is incredible, and quite possibly my favorite Night Owlet, so keep reading if you’d like to see more of it!
August’s Polish Pickup theme is Old Hollywood, and there are a ton of gorgeous offerings that’ll be available for preorder starting tomorrow, the 4th. I’ll have more details on that toward the end.
Lindsay took her inspiration from the fierce and fab Katharine Hepburn “because she was a strong & outspoken woman that refused to conform to what was expected of females in her time. She wasn’t the typical glamorous classic Hollywood actress and still holds the record for the most Oscar wins (4) in Academy Awards history. In 1999 she was named by the American Film Institute as the greatest female star of Classic Hollywood Cinema.”
Fierce & Feisty; described as a deep plum purple linear holographic polish with copper shimmer and reddish pink iridescent flakies. Ho. Lee. She. It. Balls. Y’all. Purple holographic polish. Sign me the fuck up, yo. This one is a bit on the thicker side, but only in that it was a single-coat goddess. There were also no texture issues, even with the added beautiful flakies! My photos here show one coat plus top coat.
The flakies were a bit hidden for me in my photos, but I assure you, they’re there and oh so lovely!
Do you see why I said this might be my favorite NOL yet? I’m gettin’ all sorts of turned on just looking at it again. It just… glows. It’s vibrant yet sultry and seductive and just. Efffff. If there’s any single polish to get this month, my vote is this one, honestly.
